Lean Production Simulator
Forsyth Tech is home to a Lean Production Simulator, which helps teams explore complex concepts about process improvement and working as a team through hands-on experience and exercises. It allows participants to see all of the Lean Production principles in action by simulating a machine assembly process.
How It Works
Participants will be asked to work in a team, learn jobs using Job Instruction Training and follow Standardized Work and Job Element Sheets. Participants will also be required to rotate through phases of production, check quality, use the Andon system to call for assistance (a system used on assembly lines to alert others of an issue), utilize workstation readiness charts and maintain workplace organization.
The LPS can be an excellent team-building tool, and by the end of a one-day exercise, participants are able to understand how the principles and elements of Lean Production work together. This proven system of process improvement has myriad benefits to teams outside of manufacturing, and the principles of Lean Production are used in many types of businesses and organizations.
