Forsyth Tech’s library offers a plethora of resources for our entire community, as well as for our campus community. Reference materials, fiction, non-fiction, online resources, reference materials and special collections can all be found on the campus on Silas Creek Parkway, on the first floor of the Ardmore Building.

No overdue fines are charged for materials returned after their due date. However, failure to return library materials will result in penalties. You are held responsible for any lost items.

Ask for an Interlibrary Loan
ILL is a service whereby a patron of our library can borrow resources and/or receive photocopies of documents that are owned by another library.

Give us recommendations for upcoming book orders! Request that the Library purchase specific resources like books and videos for circulation in the Library and online. Request materials as early as possible so that the Library has time for procurement before the material is needed.

The Forsyth Tech Community College Library has two websites. One website is public facing, while a more detailed website is accessible with Forsyth Tech log-in credentials.

Questions about Databases and Digital Resources

You can access these databases on Forsyth Tech Campuses or remotely on your personal devices. When accessing most of these databases remotely, you will have to put in your Forsyth Tech log-in credentials to either get access or to attain full research functions of the site.
The library does have access to a lot of e-resources, including eBooks, audiobooks, films, and television shows!
Hoopla Digital offers audiobooks, eBooks, comics, movies, TV, music, magazines, and more on a streaming service. Users are allowed 10 checkouts per month.
Libby offers audiobooks, eBooks, comics, graphic novels, and magazines. Libby offers 5 checkouts and 5 holds at one time.
eBook Central offers eBooks from scholarly sources, including university presses

The Evergreen Catalog, new as of January 2024, allows library users to search the Forsyth Tech Library’s holdings or the holdings of other libraries in the Evergreen group.
The library and the Forsyth Tech Bookstore are sometimes confused. The website for the Forsyth Tech Bookstore can be accessed here: https://forsythtech.bncollege.com/
Textbooks purchased through the bookstore can be picked up at the various bookstore campus locations.
The library does offer a Textbook on Reserves Collection for students, but these titles can only be used within the library. They cannot be checked out. The textbooks in this collection are discoverable on our online catalog: https://forsyth.ncccevergreen.org/eg/opac/home
If a textbook is not available in the library, please tell your instructor that they have the option to offer a copy of the textbook to the library!
Yes! The library does take into consideration book requests!

Recommendations for upcoming book orders are prioritized if the material supports the needs of a curriculum or helps with course assignments! Non-fiction works published more than five years ago are unable to be added, as newer publications are given priority.
We ask that you request materials as early as possible so that the library has time to have them delivered, processed, and ready to circulate!
There are several options for you if the library does not have the book that you need.
Option 1: Resource-Sharing in Evergreen
On our online catalog–https://forsyth.ncccevergreen.org/eg/opac/home—check to see if another library has the book that you need. The Evergreen Catalog allows library users to search the Forsyth Tech Library’s holdings or the holdings of other libraries in the Evergreen group.
You can even place holds on books through the resource-sharing initiative, a collaboration of different community college libraries in North Carolina. To place holds on resources, you will need to log-in to the Evergreen site with your username (the barcode on your Library Borrower Card) and a PIN (generally the last four digits of your phone number).

Option 2: Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
ILL allows you to borrow resources and/or receive photocopies of documents that are owned by another library—perhaps a library that is even out of state! This service does take a significant amount of time due to shipping and other considerations. Here is the Interlibrary Loan Request Form.
Option 3: Request that the library purchase the book.
Fill out the Book & Resource Requests Form if the above options do not work for you. Please note that this option will take the longest amount of time. Additionally, non-fiction works published more than five years ago are unable to be purchased, as newer publications are given priority.
Questions about Borrowing and Checking Out Items

Community members, students, faculty, and staff of Forsyth Tech Community College can receive a Library Card for free. We ask that community members must reside in Forsyth County (and surrounding areas in Stokes County).
Once a library card is made for you, you will receive an email notification that you can come pick up the library card at the front desk! Library Borrower Cards can be mailed on request.
The short answer is that you can check out no more than 20 books at a time. Books are loaned out for 21 days. You also have two renewals.
If you are enrolled in the Early and Middle College programs– or if you are a community borrower–the loan period and amount is different.
The library must place limits on the number of items in the general book collection that can be checked out at one time by an individual user. To be considerate of the information needs of the entire Forsyth Tech Community, Early and Middle College Students can have no more than 10 items checked out at a single time. Faculty, staff, and students cannot exceed 20 checkouts at one time. Library staff reserves the right to limit the number of items at any time if demand warrants.

All students (including those enrolled in the Early and Middle College) can check out an item for 21 days with two renewal periods. Community borrowers receive one renewal.

Technology and books not in the general circulating collection have different loan periods.

ThinkPad laptops, Chromebooks, and other accessories related to the computers can be checked out by asking a library staff member at the Circulation Desk near the main entrance. Laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can only be used within the library. These devices cannot be taken out of the library’s premises.
Note: If you are in need of a laptop on a permanent or long-term loan and are having trouble affording a computer of your own, you may reach out to Forsyth Tech Cares for assistance.
Questions about other Library Services
The library currently has four rooms designated for study room usage. These rooms can serve various purposes and prompt multiple forms of learning. Study Rooms may be booked by reserving a space through LibCal. Library users can access LibCal via the Library’s Techlink Page. Flyers located at the front Circulation Desk and outside of the study rooms have QR codes that take library users directly to LibCal’s booking page: https://forsythtech.libcal.com/reserve/studyrooms
Study rooms are booked for no longer than two hours. If you do not check in at the front desk within 15 minutes of your study room reservation time, your booking will be cancelled on LibCal and other library borrowers can check out the time you initially selected.
Study rooms are VERY popular, so be sure to book your room in advance!
Black and white printing is available in the library! Printing services are currently free, but as there is only one printer for patron use, the library asks that individuals be considerate of other people’s printing needs.

Step into a profound testament of history with The Blynn Holocaust Collection. This exceptional repository holds nearly 400 resources, including books, DVDs, videos, and a treasured compilation of Holocaust survivor testimonies from North Carolina residents. Journey through the 20th-century devastation of European Jewry as you explore the collection, housed within the dedicated Blynn Holocaust Collection room at the Learning Center of Ardmore Hall. Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Guy M. Blynn, this poignant collection stands as a memorial and educational resource for all.
