Frequently Asked Questions About Admissions
Applying for college can be challenging. Don’t worry–we have answers to all of your questions.
Do I have to apply online?
Yes, all applications must be completed online. If you do not have reliable internet access, come to the Robert L Strickland building Welcome Center or Allman building Lobby on our Main Campus, or the Student Care Lobby at the West Campus to complete your application. Our Student Care department is available to help you through the application process!
What information do I need to apply?
You will need to log into your existing College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) account, or create one. If you are having trouble recalling or resetting your user name or password, please contact CFNC customer service: 1.866.866.2362.
Is there an application fee?
No, there is no cost to apply to Forsyth Tech.
What is the Residency Determination Service (RDS)? How do I complete the residency application?
Completing the residency application will determine whether you are charged in-state or out-of-state tuition. For assistance with the Residency Application, please contact the RDS: 844.319.3640. This is a separate process, and we cannot answer RDS questions.
How do I know if I qualify for in-state tuition?
We do not determine residency. Please visit the North Carolina Residency website at www.ncresidency.org for more details about the North Carolina Residency Determination Service, processes and required residency guidelines.
How do I apply as an international student to obtain a F-1 Visa?
Forsyth Tech is authorized to issue an I-20 to students who meet the International Student admissions requirements, and who are applying to study in the U.S. under a F-1 student visa.
Applicants intending to apply for an F-1 Visa should follow the application and enrollment steps for international students.
This includes transfer-in students currently on active F-1 status and other visa holders in the United States wishing to change their status to F-1.
Where should I send my transcripts?
Please have transcripts mailed to the Admissions & Records Office on our Main Campus:
Admissions & Records

We also accept electronic transcripts, which may be sent to: admissions@forsythtech.edu
How do I get a copy of my transcript?
Students can access their unofficial transcript in myForsythTech.edu or on campus at a Student Care Team information desk. There is no charge for unofficial transcripts. Official transcripts must be requested online using the National Student Clearinghouse Ordering Service. Secure electronic PDF delivery, US mail delivery, and pickup options are available. Payment must be submitted with the request, and additional fees for electronic and mail requests apply. Official transcripts issued directly to the student note this procedure on the outside of the sealed envelope.
GED transcripts can only be obtained through www.diplomasender.com
What if I have a non-US transcript?
International high school transcripts must be translated by an accredited agency to verify their equivalency to a US high school diploma.
Translators should be certified by the American Translators Association. For a complete list of members, visit www.atanet.org or the local chapter, Carolina Association of Translators and Interpreters at www.catiweb.org.
International college transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES member (www.naces.org) or AACRAO (www.ies.aacrao.org) before Forsyth Tech will review them for possible transfer credit. Please choose the course-by-course evaluation option when making your selection.
What are the transcript requirements for admissions?
Effective June 1, 2021, a high school transcript is no longer required prior to admission into the college. An official transcript from a high school, an adult high school diploma program, a High School Equivalency (GED)/HiSET/TASC program, or an institutionally accredited college or university may be required for transfer credit or to meet prerequisites and/or other requirements when registering for courses.
