AHA Heartsaver CPR/FA-School
This fee waived AHA Heartsaver CPR and First Aid course is for Primary and Secondary School Employees with proper identification. Don’t wait until an emergency to happen. Become qualified to provide immediate emergency assistance for students, co-workers, and family, when needed. Instruction helps recognize emergency situations involving heart attack, choking, respiratory and cardiac arrest in adults, children, and infant victims. Instruction will be provided to manage life-threatening environmental emergencies, injuries and medical emergencies such as; seizures, allergies, diabetes, heat stroke and snake bites. Upon successful completion, you will receive an AHA Heartsaver CPR/First Aid certification eCard which is valid for two years.

AHA CPR BLS HCP-Initial
The BLS HCP course provides instruction to recognize the signs and symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest and strokes and how to perform CPR for adults, infants and children. Training will include use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) for victims of all ages. The BLS Healthcare Provider course is designed to provide healthcare professionals, with the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, adequately perform CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. AHA CPR BLS – Renewal/Update
AHA CPR BLS-Renewal/Update course is a fast paced course designed for medical providers or medical students who have taken the AHA BLS certification class and have an AHA BLS certification card that has not expired for more than three months. Through instruction and active participation in case-based scenarios, learners enhance their skills in treatment of cardiac arrest patients.
Upon course completion students will receive the American Heart Association BLS CPR certification eCard that is good for two years. Pre-requisite – Current AHA BLS certification that has not expired for more than three months.

AHA CPR Skills Testing
AHA with Forsyth Tech offers HeartCode Blending Learning for AHA BLS and Heartsaver certifications. AHA Blended Learning has many benefits. These classes minimize classroom time and student exposure. Only the hands-on skills session needs to be completed in person. The total course time and cost is basically the same as face to face classes. Students can complete the on-line portion at their leisure.
Students must present, in class, the certificate of completion of the AHA HeartCode module to attend the skills testing and receive the BLS certification. It is the student’s responsibility to go to the on-line website, purchase and complete the AHA HeartCode Online module prior to registering for the AHA Skills Testing. Upon course completion students will receive the American Heart Association CPR certification eCard that is good for two years. Pre-requisite: AHA Heartcode Certification of Completion – No Book Required

If you are not a healthcare provider, this is the AHA certification course for you! AHA ACLS Renewal Blended
This class is for students who want to renew their ACLS card only. All ACLS renewals and updates require a pre-test to be completed, results saved and prepped for email. For further directions on where to find and access the pre-test, see your confirmation email for instructions and web links. Blended Learning – HeartCode® ACLS: This is a two part process. First the student will take a online test and print it out, then the student will schedule a skills check off with us.
Heartcode ACLS test website portal www.elearning.heart.org. Once on the website, in the search bar under “find a course” click on the drop down menu, then click on Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and then click on HeartCode ACLS. After completing the test, please print it off and bring it with you to class. This is a 3 Part Blended Learning class designed for providers who are adept at learning advanced practices through web-based learning, and have no difficulty in translating that information into a practical application. For providers taking an ACLS course for the first time, or have difficulty with web-based learning, a seated course will offer a better learning environment.
Part 1 is the convenient online course that covers the cognitive portion of the course. Most students require at least 4 hours to complete the online portion (part 1), however some take as long as 8 hours.
Parts 2 & 3 are combined. This is the Hands-on Practice / Skills Test with a BEST Instructor. The skills session (parts 2 &3) general takes around 90 minutes but can go as long as 3 hours depending on how much hands on time the student needs.
Part 1 a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings.
To enter the course, students must complete a precourse self-assessment. Students will then be presented with a team dynamics lesson and 10 In-hospital patient cases, including a BLS case and 2 megacode cases. Upon successful completion of all the patient cases, students must pass the written exam with a score of 84%. Students then are able to attend the hands-on session (Parts 2 &3) required for full course completion. You must bring the printed completion certificate with you to participate in the skills check portion of this course.
You will receive an American Heart Association ACLS certification card with the successful completion of this course.

AHA PALS – Pediatric Advance Life Support-Initial
Are you a healthcare provider interested in preparing to respond to emergencies for infants and children? The American Heart Association PALS certification is desired in most medical settings and surgical units for infants and children. Come to Forsyth Tech and receive the AHA PALS and BLS certification all in one class. The American Heart Association PALS course is an instructor-led course using a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. The PALS course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements. Upon successful completion, you will have access to the AHA PALS and BLS certification eCards which are valid for two years.

BLS Instructor Essentials Course
The BLS Instructor Essentials Course is delivered in a blended-learning format. To become an AHA BLS Instructor, candidates must complete the online modules followed by a classroom-based hands-on session. The online portion covers both core content and discipline-specific modules to prepare instructor candidates. The hands-on session includes instruction, practice, and assessment, enabling candidates to effectively utilize their instructor materials and skills. If I am a medical provider and my BSL CPR certification has expired can I work? That is up to your employer.
Is there still a BLS, PALS and ACLS renewal credential course? Yes- renewal, recertification, recert or update are all the same thing.
What kind of CPR certification do I need? If you work in the medical field or you are a medical student, most likely you need the BLS Provider certification. If you are not sure, your place of employment or school can advise the type of certification required.
